Team Hardie started well with a win over Scott Hamilton’s
Lockerbie side, a steal of two in the fourth end being decisive.
Team Hamilton in action:
Wilson 4-0 up after four ends held on to beat Ireland’s Team
Mitchell. Jim Menzies of Team Wilson pictured below.
The local Forfar Curling Club team skipped by Colin Inglis were
involved in a very tight battle with Team Joiner swapping singles and blanks
all game. Inglis held hammer in the last but errors from the team allowed Joiner
to steal the end and the game.
Bryce versus Taylor was also an exciting matchup, Bryce was
one up in the last end but without hammer and lying two against, partially
guarded. Attempting the angled raise with his last he was slightly wide but
with some good fortune spun in to lie second forcing a tricky shot to pick it
out. It was played well by Stuart Taylor giving him a win in his opening game.
Team Bryce working on their skips stone:
In the later session there were comfortable wins for Team
Ward over MacDonald and Team Telfer over Taylor, while Forfar Ladies pushed
Team Maggie Wilson all the way but ultimately lost out.
Team Marnoch visiting from Manitoba were in a strong
position over Team Ally Fraser, however a steal of two in the last end robbed the
Canadians of the win.
Lots of great curling on show, it was a shame the football
did not match up!
