Forfar Final 2016

The final was a real battle as predicted. The two teams traded blows for the first 6 ends after which it was level at 5-5. In the 7th, Ally Fraser played a fantastic tap up to the button with his last to score a two and become favourite for the match and title. The Hardie team worked hard in the 8th end and Grant had a chance of a skinny double to lie two with his last to push the game into an extra-end. He made the double but his shooter just slipped out so scored only one.
Team Fraser are GSCT Forfar Open Champions 2016.

Congratulations to them and to Forfar Indoor Sports for delivering another very successful Forfar Open!

Semi-finals

And so into the semis we go.
Fraser beats Taylor ending a decent weekend for Stuart Taylor’s side who will move into 3rd place on the GSCT leaderboard.
Team Fraser
League leaders Team Hardie were too strong for Ward who also settle for 8points and move ahead of Sophie Jackson as the highest placed ladies team.
Team Ward

It will be a strong final that could go either way!

Quarter-finals

Taylor versus Telfer was an exciting quarter-final. Telfer stole a single in the 3rd end giving them the advantage which they held up until the 8th and final end where Taylor stole a two against the hammer for the game.
Murray Young, 4th for Team Telfer

They will now meet Team Fraser in the semi who overcame Team D.Wilson. Another tight game with only a three to Fraser in the 5th separating the teams and ending a good run from the local senior side.
In the ladies quarter Team Ward continued with their unbeaten record dispatching Team M.Wilson. The game was tight until a four to Ward in the 7th ended Wilson’s tournament.
Maggie Wilson

Ward will now face a tough test in the semi against Team Hardie who saw off the challenge from Team Bryce in the remaining quarter-final.
