Final Standings

Another successful season of the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour is now complete.
Final standings at the top of the leaderboard are below:

A solid quarter final performance from Team Mouat in Aberdeen at the weekend cement their place at the top of the leaderboard and will collect the Colin Galbraith Memorial Trophy as worthy winners. This completes a great year for this team adding the 'Goldline Scottish Curling Tour Champions' title to their Scottish and World Junior titles. For skip Bruce though, there is still the chance of more silverware at the World Mixed Doubles in Sweden in a few weeks time.

Two ladies teams made it into the top12 above, and it was Lauren Gray's team who collect the Ladies Trophy this year. Congratulations to them.

It is pleasing also to see two international teams (from Netherlands and Finland) featuring high on the leaderboard. It is hoped that this trend continues and that even more teams from overseas are attracted to Scotland to compete in our competitive tournaments in future.

The goal of the tour remains to provide a structure to the competitive circuit in Scotland, bridging the gap between local teams, future talent and the elite professionals in our sport, and in doing so support the tournaments and ice rinks that are vital to Scottish curling at every level. Having shared in this vision since the inception of the tour in 2011, Goldline have been a valued partner throughout it's development. The tour committee would like to thank Goldline for their continued support and announce an extension to their sponsorship until end of season 2018/19.

Thanks to all of the players, spectators, local organisers and tournament sponsors. We look forward to September and the start of the new season!

Murdoch Wins Inaugural Aberdeen International

David Murdoch triumphed in the all Scotland final this afternoon.  They played a fantastic final and won 5-1 against Tom Brewster.  Tom now heads off to Basel for the World Championships next week.

Below is Team Murdoch receiving the Bruce Ferguson Memorial Trophy from Bruce's wife, Kate Ferguson.

L-R: David Murdoch, Greg Drummond, Kate Ferguson, Scott Andrews and Michael Goodfellow

Final Time in Aberdeen

Two contrasting Semi finals in Aberdeen, David Murdoch was first off the ice with a strong performance and win over Michael Brunner, David and his team started very strong and took a dominant lead which wasn't recovered.  They were off early and awaiting the winner of Ulsrud and Brewster.  Thomas looked to be in control of the second half but an uncharacteristic mistake in the 7th gifted a steal to Tom.  Brewster was 1 up without hammer in the last.  Thomas was left with a draw to the four foot with backing but was a fraction wide and it slid off, a measure was called, the Norwegian brushes went into the bags, they knew what was coming, a steal of 1 for Brewster. Much to the delight of the home crowd there's an all Scottish final, Tom Brewster vs David Murdoch

The final starts at 4pm, Line scores available here

Aberdeen International Quarter Finals

The first Quarter final here in Aberdeen saw the Scottish and World Junior Champions, Team Mouat take on the Scottish Mens Champions Tom Brewster, a big three in the 7th was enough to seal the victory for Tom.  Thomas Ulsrud and Aku Kauste enjoyed a battle in the closest of the quarter finals, the game was tied going into the last end.  Kauste had the hammer but a fantastic last shot from Thomas gave Aku a tough tap back to win which just ticked the guard.

The other Scottish team in the quarters, David Murdoch controlled his game against Jaap Van Dorp and will face Brunner from Switzerland after they beat Team America in a closely fought game.

So the semi finals are
Ulsrud vs Brewster
Brunner vs Murdoch

Aberdeen International Curling: Day 2

David Murdoch and Bruce Mouat have secured qualification from the Yellow Section, they play each other this evening to decide who tops the group.  Bruce is not playing this weekend as he is concentrating on training for the mixed doubles next month.  In his place Duncan Menzies has stepped in at 3rd with Bobby skipping.

In the green section Cammy Bryce kept his hopes of qualification alive, he beat Jaap Van Dorp, Cammy now needs Tom Brewster to beat Van Dorp in tonight's game.  Tom is 3-0 after beating the Russian team with a controlling display.  Speaking after the game Glen Muirhead said "we were unfortunate not to score a couple of early doubles but hung in and dominated the latter half.  The ice is great and this is really good prep for next week."

On the ice at the moment, a big game in the Red Section as Kyle Smith takes on the undefeated Team Ulsrud. Brunner vs Keller, Macleod vs Hoiberg and Kauste vs Shuster
