McCleary wins at Forfar
The Goldline Scottish Curling Tour rolled into Forfar at the weekend and as always proved successful both on and off the ice.
Sunday morning quarters saw Cameron Bryce edge Craig Joiner 5-4 in an all junior battle. Ross McCleary ran out comfortable winners 8-2 over Robin Brydone. David Edwards, who coasted through his section scoring 57 shots found the going far tougher stealing and extra end victory over John Hamilton 6-5. The last quarter saw Kerry Barr win the ladies event with victory over Maggie Wilson 10-1.
Looking for a double triumph Kerry went on to defeat David Edwards 5-4 in a close semi-final. The other semi saw Ross McCleary beating Cameron Bryce 7-4.
The final proved one step too far for Kerry and her team as Ross McCleary took the win in an extra end 6-4.
So congratulations go to Ross McCleary and his team of James Stark, Craig Gudmundsson and Gavin Baird on their victory. A great start for them, with their 1st competition of the season.
Special thanks to Mike Ferguson for being a great host and providing some Saturday night fun (along with the delightful Deirdre!). Also to Graham Smith for the excellent ice.
